Zoey & Ben movie details

Story without spoilers

Ben has built his life around an uncertain acting career and a limited relationship with his daughter, Zoey. That arrangement changes abruptly when Zoey’s mother is hospitalized, leaving Ben responsible for raising the nine-year-old full time.

The film tracks their lives over a decade, presenting a long-term account of personal setbacks and important milestones. Ben must move beyond his self-absorbed, dreamer mentality, while Zoey grows from a traumatized child into a more confident young woman. The story’s central tension comes from their changing roles and the effort required to become a family under difficult circumstances.

What to expect

As a drama with coming-of-age and father-daughter relationship elements, Zoey & Ben is built around family responsibility, emotional development and the passage of time. The ten-year structure gives the story room to cover multiple stages in both characters’ lives rather than focusing on a single event.

Viewers can expect a character-led premise involving an absent or inconsistent parent, a child coping with upheaval and the pressures of an unexpected family transition. The film’s tone is shaped by both triumphs and setbacks, with Ben’s transformation and Zoey’s growing confidence serving as its main points of development.
