Rambut Sewu: Satu Langkah Getih is an Indonesian horror mystery centered on Wulan, a young woman whose life changes after moving into an old house with her mother. What begins as a relocation connected to work soon develops into a series of disturbing dreams and unexplained incidents.

When the village links Wulan’s experiences to Marni, a former resident whose history has remained unclear for decades, the story expands beyond the house itself. A reporter returns to investigate, while a local man familiar with the past joins the effort to break the connection between Wulan and the mysterious power known as Dhandhang Gendhing.

Story without spoilers

Wulan moves with her mother, Ratih, to a village where Ratih works at a tea factory. The two eventually settle in an old house owned by the company, but the new home brings unsettling consequences for Wulan. She starts having strange dreams and encounters mysterious events that gradually cause her to lose control of herself.

The villagers believe the disturbances are connected to Marni, a former occupant of the house whose story has remained unresolved for decades. After details of Wulan’s situation spread on social media, Damar, a reporter and native of the village, arrives to look into what is happening. Suradi, who understands something about the power tied to the past, also offers his help. Together, they attempt to separate Wulan from Marni and the force called Dhandhang Gendhing.
