Story without spoilers

Dr. Ananth Sivan has built his life around Gandhian principles and remains committed to the beliefs that have guided him for years. His daughter Karthi, a filmmaker, sees those convictions from a different perspective and starts to challenge them.

Their relationship develops through everyday interactions in their ancestral home. As father and daughter negotiate their contrasting views, Izhakalkkappuram explores how personal ideals can shape family life—and how empathy may create room for understanding without erasing disagreement.

What to expect

Izhakalkkappuram is presented as a character-driven drama centered on family, belief and generational difference. Its premise suggests an intimate story built around conversations and daily exchanges rather than a broad external conflict. The ancestral home provides the main setting for the evolving relationship between Ananth and Karthi, while the Gandhian scholar’s convictions and his daughter’s questioning give the film its central tension.
