Story: In the summer of 2022, at a shrine, Hitomi Wakui (played by Saika Akimoto) has initiated the “Okutama Lion Dance” children’s preservation group to enhance community spirit. During the rehearsals, “the patrol officer,” Atsushi Ena (portrayed by Susumu Terajima), and Reika Izumi (acted by Mina Fujii) observe while serving watermelon to the participants. Amidst this lively summer in Okutama, a small disturbance arises when Shogo (played by Reo Tamaki), Hitomi’s childhood friend and the son of Daisuke Kawase (portrayed by Takehiko Ono), returns home after several years. However, Daisuke, troubled by past mistakes and the burden his late mother endured, rejects Shogo. Shortly after, a man’s body is discovered in a vacation rental, initially classified as a suicide but quickly evolving into a murder investigation. The victim is revealed to be an accomplice in a robbery involving Shogo. Koji Mikoshiba (played by Seiji Fukushi), who takes over the investigation from Kunihiro Kakurai (performed by Yukiya Kitamura), starts to suspect Shogo’s involvement. As Mikoshiba values strict adherence to protocols, he finds himself frequently at odds with Ena and the others.
