Editor’s note: Here’s a quick take on 1992 (2024): Firmly a Crime, Thriller, Action piece, but with a personal touch. Ariel Vromen keeps the storytelling tight, favoring character beats over empty flash. Performances (especially Tyrese Gibson, Scott Eastwood, Ray Liotta) give the story human stakes. The 1h 36m runtime suits the material. Solid if imperfect—its strengths outweigh a few rough edges. Its tagline—“Every city has a breaking point.”—is a fair snapshot of its intent. If the premise speaks to you, put it on your list.
