Story: This film narrates the poignant tale of two Highlander siblings, Maciek and Andrzej. Following their father’s tragic death—an event Andrzej played a role in—and the heart-wrenching loss of his beloved Bronka, Andrzej decides to leave their home. During his journey, he encounters Wolfram, a mysterious anthropologist and climber, who imparts his knowledge of mountaineering and shares insights about the Prague origins of the Highlanders. When war breaks out upon Andrzej’s return to Zakopane, he confronts a moral dilemma: he seeks to persuade the Highlanders to collaborate with the Germans to safeguard their community. This leads to a bitter rift with his brother Maciek, culminating in a devastating confrontation.
