Breaking the news of your engagement to someone’s mother is no easy feat.

Story: Atsuya (30) is preparing to marry Chigusa (50), the mother of his best friend Tamura (30). To seek Tamura’s blessing, Atsuya invites him to a bar for the announcement. However, after hearing the news, Tamura insists on guessing the identity of the bride instead of having it revealed outright. This leads Atsuya into an increasingly awkward situation as Tamura asks more and more off-the-wall questions, making it increasingly difficult for Atsuya to reveal that the bride is, in fact, his own mother’s friend. Meanwhile, at a nearby table, Makishima (37)—an acquaintance of Atsuya—watches the unfolding comedy with some enjoyment. Makishima is also at the bar to inform his ex-wife Naomi (33) of his engagement to her again and hopes she will give a speech at his wedding. To everyone’s surprise, when Naomi arrives, it turns out she’s Tamura’s cousin, adding another layer of personal connection to the tangled situation.
