Story without spoilers

Farouk is focused almost entirely on managing his supermarket, leaving his wife, Mai, and their children with less of his attention. The family’s situation becomes considerably more complicated when Galal, his unemployed brother-in-law, moves into their home.

Galal’s arrival disrupts Farouk’s routine and pulls him into a chain of comic problems and increasingly difficult situations. The story’s central tension comes from the clash between Farouk’s responsibilities at work and the unexpected demands created by his changing family circumstances.

What to expect

The supplied premise points to a family comedy built around domestic disruption, workplace pressure and the complications of an unexpected houseguest. Farouk’s attempts to manage his professional duties while dealing with Galal’s effect on family life provide the film’s main comic setup.

With Arabic dialogue and a 1-hour-32-minute runtime, Matloub Aaeleyan is positioned as a compact ensemble comedy rather than a long-form drama. The story involves a married couple, children and an extended family member whose unemployment becomes a major source of trouble.
