🎬 Title: Testamentum
Story: Sztojkovics, an eccentric artist and theater director, has just moved into a new apartment that was owned for decades by a foundation supporting aging artists. Soon after settling in, he discovers a bricked-up room within the flat. Driven by curiosity, he breaks through the wall and unearths a photographic studio that has remained untouched for seventy years. Inside, he finds the diary of the apartment’s former owner, Paul Alter, and his wife, Mimi. As Sztojkovics delves into the pages, Mimi’s tale unfolds. It recounts the arrival of a Hungarian composer known as “The Master” (Bartók) and his wife, Gitta, in the United States, where they, along with thousands of other emigrants, are placed in quarantine by authorities. Paul, who is the Master’s American manager, cleverly rescues the couple from this unpleasant situation, while Mimi is a budding photographer striving to make her mark.
