Story: Over a span of 90 years, “Tees” delves into the life of a middle-class Muslim family through three generations. In 2042, after Anhad Draboo’s manuscript titled “Tees” faces rejection from the Literature and Arts Commission, he encounters Niharika, a “reader” from the Commission who has been diligently searching for him since discovering his work. Jumping back to 2018, Zia Draboo, a corporate lawyer in Mumbai, faces obstacles while attempting to purchase the flat she shares with her partner, Meera, due to the Housing Society’s bias against her name. In the years 1989-90, Ayesha, a state radio newsreader confined to her home in Srinagar, Kashmir, reaches out to Usha, a childhood friend. She seeks assistance from Usha’s husband, a government official, to help her struggling husband, Ghulam Muhammad, who is dealing with financial ruin amid the city’s escalating unrest.
