Remarkably, some even manage to give birth during this frigid season. So, how do diverse species—plants, animals, and fungi—adapt to this annual winter wonderland, which from our viewpoint appears to be a harsh and barren time? Nature’s myriad adaptations reveal that winter is not merely a season of hardship but an essential component of the yearly ecological cycle, influencing the habitats of various species.
