🎬 Title: Detective Conan: Black Iron Submarine / 名探偵コナン 黒鉄の魚影(サブマリン)

Story: Engineers from around the globe gather at the Interpol marine facility “Pacific Buoy,” located on Hachijo-jima, just south of Tokyo. They are there to witness the debut of an advanced system capable of connecting law enforcement camera networks globally, facilitating worldwide facial recognition. Along with his friends—Kogoro, Ran, Agasa, Haibara, and the Detective Boys—Conan travels to the island after receiving an invitation from Sonoko to observe whales. However, his plans take a dark turn when he gets a disturbing message from Subaru about the murder of a Europol agent in Germany by the notorious Gin. Concerned, Conan secretly boards a police vessel led by Kuroda, heading to the island to safeguard the launch event. While exploring the new facility, chaos erupts as the Black Organization kidnaps a female engineer in search of crucial data stored on her USB drive. An ominous rumble from the ocean signals the approach of an unknown threat to Haibara.

Editor’s Note: Detective Conan: Black Iron Submarine (2023) is a compelling blend of animation, action, crime, and mystery that resonates on a personal level. Under the direction of Yuzuru Tachikawa, the narrative is well-structured, emphasizing character development over mere spectacle. Standout performances from Minami Takayama, Wakana Yamazaki, and Rikiya Koyama underscore the emotional stakes of the story. With a duration of 1 hour and 50 minutes, the film maintains steady pacing and rarely lingers unnecessarily. While it may have some imperfections, its strengths far surpass its minor flaws. If this premise intrigues you, be sure to add it to your watch list.
