Story: Three years after the release of “Julius Caesar,” director Shintaro Mori and actress Yoko Yoshida collaborate once again, this time on Shakespeare’s “Hamlet Q1.” This adaptation uses a new translation by Kazuko Matsuo and presents a shortened version of the original text, making it about half the length of the F1 adaptation. The narrative hones in on the themes of justice and revenge within the royal Danish family. Mori, who received accolades for his direction in “Julius Caesar,” leads this compelling rendition. Yoko Yoshida, a recipient of the 56th Kinokuniya Theatre Award for her previous role, delivers a multilayered portrayal of Hamlet. The talented cast also features Ito Mari, Makishima Teru, Otsuru Saku, Hirooka Yuriko, and Yoshida Eiji, bringing a fresh perspective to “Hamlet Q1.”
